Many of us would have gone through a pimple phase in our lives. If you did not and have not experienced it, then you must be really fortunate to have a blessed complexion!
Before you pop the pimple, take a closer look to see if it is "ripe" already. If you feel a bump that is tender to touch, but it does not resemble a pustule (bump filled with pus) yet, do not pop it first!
If you attempt to pop this kind of pimple prematurely, not only would it be ineffective (as the pus is still present inside the bump), but you will also end up with redness and abrasion to your skin. It may take some time for the redness to go away and in serious cases; it will become a blemish that does not fade so fast.
I know it is very tempting to want to get rid of your pimple as early as you could, especially if you have a hot date coming up or if you do not want to draw attention to your face for the wrong reason. But it is advisable to wait till it is ready to be popped (the cue is to see if the pus has surfaced to the tip of the pimple) as the healing will take a much shorter time.
Before you squeeze the pimple, wash your face thoroughly and clean it of any makeup or grime. It would be good to splash some warm water or apply a warm towel to your face to open up the pores.
With a piece of tissue paper, apply pressure at both sides of the pimple with the tip of your fingers. Never ever use your fingernails to poke or prod it as it may end up scarring the spot.
You may feel a slight pain when the initial pus oozes out. Apply some pressure gently again a few more times at the sides to make sure the pimple is cleared.
Wash your face with clear water and dab facial toner over the spot to ease the redness and tighten the pore.
Let it heal naturally over the next few days. Do not touch the spot unnecessarily especially if your fingers are not clean. Sometimes there may be residue pus and you may need to pop it again to make sure the bump flattens out totally.
If there is a need to make the spot less obvious, you can consider dabbing a non-comodogenic concealer on and around it.
If you have popped the pimple correctly, the spot should fade after some time and there should not be any blemish or scarring.
